2023 Flu Clinics

2023 Flu Clinics
Our practice recommends the flu vaccine for all patients 6 months of age and older (unless they have rare medical contraindications). We will offer an injectable flu vaccine for ages 6 months and older as well as a nasal flu vaccine for patients 2 years and older.
Why is the flu vaccine important for kids?
During the flu season, children typically have the highest “attack rate” in the community. They play a crucial role in transmission throughout the community. Children less than 5 years old, especially those less than 2 years old, and any child or teen with any underlying health problems are considered “high risk” for complications from the flu, including hospitalization. School-age children and teens are more likely to seek out medical care for the flu than adults.
What are the benefits of getting my child or teen the flu vaccine?
-Protects children and teens against catching the flu at all
-Reduces the severity of illness in children who are vaccinated but still get sick
-Significantly lowers the chance of flu-related hospitalization and death
-Helps protect everyone around the child or teen: parents/grandparents, teachers, childcare workers, community members
